The Arne Tidemand -Ruud furniture designer has grown up in a family of furniture manufacturers. His father, Ole N. Ruud, notably delivered furniture and interiors to the America line. Tidemand Ruud graduated in 1935 when he studied at the National School of Crafts and Art Industry. He worked in the family business until 1953, the date on which he acquired As Inventar in Gjøvik after the death of his father. He heads the factory there with his wife Solveig Tidemand Ruud. For three decades, they designed and produced their own furniture and furniture for cafes, restaurants, banks and hotels. His most famous work is the Holmenkollen long chair (1959), made of teak with tanned skin. Holmenkollen was mainly sold in the United States, Germany and Sweden through the Norcraft export organization.
