Old stock of period silk and metallic lame ribbon from France. This type of material is no longer produced and actually has metal content which when creased retains those lines, similar to what happens when metal foil is folded or crushed.
We were able to procure stock of this rare textile in Paris before the houses such as Chanel and Dior purchased them all for use in the Haute Couture, in the 1990’s. There is nothing made today that can replicate the look of these wonderful metallic ribbons. The French factories which produced this textile have all since closed.
The ribbon was wrapped for decades in brown paper and has a soft metallic patina of silvery-gold. 1940’s France. Unused.
Additional quantities available as well as high carat gold lame silk ribbon.
25 meters x 7.5″ width.
