This chair features a beech bentwoord frame and a hand-woven rattan seat and backrest. It was produced by the former Thonet factory (nationalized after World War II) ZPM Radomsko in Poland.

Nutwood Edelweis Marquetry Chair Swiss Brienz 1900 A wonderful inlayed nutwood chair decorated with inlayed and painted sceneries depicting chamois, goat and edelweis flowers. Surrounded by ebony and lindenwood marquetry. Manufactured ca. 1900 in Brienz, Switzerland. Very good original condition. The tradition of edelweis furnishings in Brienz dates back to mid of the 19th century. People in the region were looking for new employment opportunities. They used their skills from traditional crafts, carving everyday objects and sculptures, and created a new business. Many woodcarvers where trained in the ‘School of Wood Carving, Brienz’ which was established in 1884. Around 1900 the woodcarving industry counted ca. 2000 woodcarvers. Brienz woodcarvings were presented on several worlds fairs with great success. with the Gran Tour Tourism wealthy people from all over the word visited the area and took their woodcarving souvenirs home. Today some companies, like ‘Huggler Holzbildhauerei’ still exist and build traditional sculptures. artfour is an owner-managed trading company that sells Black Forest wood carvings, antler furniture and an impressive variety of unique decorative items. Chair T006, unique piece by Studio Nicolas Erauw Piece unique 1 of 1 Dimensions: H 85 CM x W 50 CM x D 50 CM Materials: Aluminum, wax dipped Part of the on-going ‘Wax on/Wax off series’. These series is a collection of experiments of lost-wax casting and wax-dipping processes. The wax dipping is done with a self-made machine called Tonk. Tonk, a machine based on the old technique of candle dipping, was created to explore shapes and forms through a new medium. When combining TONK with the lost wax casting technique, a unique piece is produced every single time. Based in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, Nicolas Erauw graduated from The Royal School of Arts in Ghent with a specialisation in furniture design in 2017. His focus is on finding new ways to combine Industrial manufacturing processes and raw materials to create unexpected results.
