Vintage 1940’s Ceil Chapman Beaded Skirt Suit 1940’s Beaded Suit UK 6-8 US 2-4

The rounded mandarin collar of the jacket, is decorated with trailing black soutache in a leaf pattern and black glass bugle beads. The simple shoulder line is accented by internally sewn shoulder pads, which draw the eye to the full length inset sleeves, edged with slim turned up pointed cuffs and finished with small concealed metal zips along each internal side. The elegant and fitted silhouette of the jacket is set off by Princess seams which run from each shoulder line down to the waistline. The cinched in waistline of the jacket, sets off the peplum cut of the hemline, which boasts small slits along either side of the front. The bodice of the jacket is fully embellished with trailing floral patterns, accented by pale blue pearlescent beads, which featured droplet beadwork along either side of the front of the neckline. The jacket draws in centrally with concealed hook and eye fastenings.

The black rayon skirt, is accented by a simple fitted waistband, from which box pleats radiate along the length of the skirt. The skirt fitted perfectly beneath the jacket, completing this ensemble in an iconic 1940’s silhouette. This ensemble is not lined.

Condition: This suit is in near perfect vintage condition. With natural and light beadwork loss, which is to be expected of a piece this age. Light wear to the soutache along the back of the collar. A very small mend to the rayon along the left hand side cuff near the zip. Please Refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report.
