Vintage Design
Louis XV commode hand-made in France in the late 1700s using oak and pegged construction. The chest shows the typical overall look of the Louis XV style, with cabriole feet, scalloped apron and carved overlay drawers. The top is made of three boards with ogee edge and rounded front corners nailed to the case. On the front, the commode presents three overlay drawers of roughly the same size and all three with beautiful dovetail joints. The sides show flat inset panels framed by molding.
Overall the commode is simple, yet ornate. The curves and decorations add a lot of detail and depth, as does the light natural color of the wood. This is a commode that will be a great addition to a room with both modern or antique furniture and can be used on a daily basis. It is structurally sound and the enormous drawers will provide plenty of storage space.
